Efficiency Optimization Method for Cascaded Two-Stage Boost Converter

A method of optimal intermediate voltage tracking (OIVT) is proposed in this paper to improve efficiency for the cascade boost converter. The can be adjusted by regulating duty cycle front stage and rear converters. To control speed algorithm, range determined calculating overall system loss. In addition, with input-output relationship maintained, root-mean-square (rms) current capacitor reduced changing phase difference between side PWM signals. On basis, a phase-shift angle (OPAT) further extend service life through relatively simple implantation. Besides, OIVT OPAT applicable other topologies. 1-KW prototype constructed laboratory verify method. As confirmed experimental results, maximum reaches 95.23% when adopted, which 2% higher than under uncontrolled condition. It demonstrated that effective improving without needing any additional components.
